OBITUARY: Ruth L. Groe, Worth County, Iowa Ruth L. (Hove) Groe [1913-2001] [Northwood Anchor newspaper online, posted: 9/11/2001; www.northwoodanchor.com] Ruth L. Groe, 87 of Lake Mills, IA died Thursday, September 6, 2001 at her home. Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 10, 2001 at Sion Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, IA, with Pastor Bill Peters officiating. Burial was at Sion Lutheran Cemetery. Ruth Lucille Groe was born on Dec. 23, 1913, in Worth County, IA, to Olavus and Ingborg (Halberson) Hove. She was baptized and confirmed in First Shell Rock Church, rural Northwood. She graduated from Northwood High School Class of 1932. On March 28, 1934, she married Norris Groe in Silver Lake Township, Worth County, IA. They lived 58 years of married life in the Lake Mills area. Norris passed away on Jan. 3, 1993. Ruth enjoyed her Tuesday afternoon ceramic friends and belonging to Sion and Salem circles and also, her many coffee drinking partners. Ruth loved and was loved by her family. She is survived by sons, Norris, Jr. and David of Lake Mills, IA; Royden and Zona of Casa Grande, AZ; and son-in-law, Dennis Chesney of Marshall, MN; daughters, Vivian and husband Gary Meehlhause of Clear Lake, IA, Jeogene and husband Steven Huso, Kathy and husband Dennis Hanson, all of Lake Mills, IA, and Denise and husband Kurt Kober of Lewisville, TX; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her best friends Dolly and Dimples. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Norris; sons Steven and Marvin; daughter, Fran and former daughter-in-law, Betty; three sisters, Amy, Helen and Ida; two brothers, Oliver and Helmer.
