OBITUARY: Lester E. Gullickson, Worth County, Iowa Lester Everett Gullickson [1910-2001] [Northwood Anchor -- www.northwoodanchor.com -- August 21, 2001] Lester Gullickson, 91, services held Lester E. Gullickson, 91, Northwood, IA, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City. Funeral services were Saturday at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Rev. Allan Stoa officiating. Burial was at Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood, was in charge of arrangements. Lester Everett Gullickson, son of Malcolm and Minnie (Abraham) Gullickson, was born April 3, 1910 on the Gullickson century farm where his father and grandfather also farmed. Lester farmed the land until 1974 and lived on the same farm all of his life. He was baptized at the South Shell Rock Church and confirmed at the North Shell Rock Church by Rev. Carl Ylirsaker. He attended country school in Grove Township and Northwood High School. He married Irene Hagen on Dec. 17, 1933. They had two children, Delores Ida Nelson, who died on April 28, 1989, and Kenneth Lester Gullickson. He enjoyed fishing, taking care of his lawn and his family most of all. Survivors include his wife Irene of Northwood; one son, Kenneth Gullickson of St. Peters, MO; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
