OBITUARY: Burnell L. Lokken, Worth County, Iowa [Northwood Anchor online -- www.northwoodanchor.com May 15, 2001] Burnell L. Lokken [1924-2001] Funeral services for Burnell L. Lokken, 76, Albert Lea, were Monday at Calvary Baptist Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Doug Smither officiated. Inter-ment was in Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea. Burnell died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. Burnell was born June 20, 1924, in Northwood, to Jens and Clara (Nelson) Lokken. He was baptized and confirmed at Silver Lake Lutheran Church and graduated form Northwood High School in 1942. On April 13, 1946 he married Phyllis Sorenson. They made their home in Albert Lea where he became a member of Calvary Baptist Church. For many years he was a route salesman for Albert Lea Co-op Creamery. In 1967 he became owner/operator of Lokken Standard and later on custodian for Independent School District 241 until he retired in 1989. After his retirement he resumed bus driving for several years--having had three generations of students over the years. He was always actively involved in Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Phyllis Lokken of Albert Lea; four children, Richard Lokken and his wife Renee of Burnsville, MN, Barry Lokken and his wife Cindy of Lompoc, CA, Ross Lokken and his wife Vicki of Goleta, CA and Lori Stager of Pierre, SD; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Lorraine Jenks of Lowry, MN and many nieces and nephews.
