OBITUARY: James R. Miller, Worth County, Iowa James R. Miller [1917-1979] [St. Ansgar Enterprise, 15 NOV 1979] Funeral services for James Ray Miller, 62, who died Tuesday, Nov. 6 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, were held Thursday, November 8 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton with the Rev. Gary Panko officiating. James Ray Miller was born on Feb. 3, 1917 in Drinkwater, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of James and Pearl (nee Baker) Miller and moved to the United States in 1921. Mr. Miller joined the Navy in 1932 and served with the Naval C. Bees during World War II. He was married to Lucille Walk April 13, 1947. After the war he farmed in the Grafton area until he went to work for Pinkerton Guards of the Armour and Allied Mills Co. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Pearl Miller. He is survived by his wife, Lucile; two daughters, Linnette Hinrichsen of Osage and Linda Blood of Northwood; one son, Steven of St. Ansgar; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Clarence (Ruby) Paulsen, Mason City. Burial was in the Grafton cemetery with military honors with Rev. Panko in charge of committal services.
