OBITUARY: Frances E. Olson, Worth County, Iowa [ Mason City Globe Gazette Online Obituaries ] Thursday, May 6, 1999 FRANCES EVELYN OLSON NORTHWOOD - Frances Evelyn Olson, 88, of Northwood, died Tuesday (May 4, 1999) at the Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center, Minn. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Northwood, with the Rev. Richard Jensen officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood. Friends may call from noon until service time on Friday at the church. The family of Frances Evelyn Olson has requested that memorial contributions be made to the United Methodist Church in Northwood in her name. Conner Colonial Chapel, 99 11th St. South, Northwood, is in charge of the arrangements. Frances Evelyn Olson was born on Jan. 7, 1911, in Dodge Center, Minn., the daughter of Simon and Bessie (Campbell) Schuster. She attended and received her education in the Dodge Center school system, graduating from Dodge Center High School. She was united in marriage to Harold Olson on June 1, 1932, in Dodge Center. He preceded her in death in August, 1984. After their marriage they lived in Dodge Center, where they farmed and owned and operated a restaurant until 1940, when they moved to Austin, Minn., where she worked at Hormel until her retirement, moving to Northwood in 1974. She enjoyed knitting and traveling, but her great love and enjoyment was her grandchildren and watching them participate in their sports activities. Frances had been a resident of the Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center since October 1998. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Northwood, and the church circle. Left to cherish her memory is a son, Jerry Olson and his wife, Suzanne, of Northwood; four grandchildren, Kym Thorson and her husband, John, of Deltona, Fla., Kory Olson and his wife, Sherry, of Manly, Kari Redman and her husband, Ben, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Kristy Lilly and her husband, Charles, of Lathionia, Ga.; 10 great-grandchildren, Kirsten Thorson, Scott Thorson, Bryan Koster, Jayson Olson, Shayne Olson, McKenzie Redman, Casey Redman, Chaz Lilly, Garett Lilly and Carter Lilly; three sisters, Lavonne Day and her husband, Ladd, of Los Osos, Calif., Virginia Keller of Mantorville, Minn., and Leona Osborn of Waseca, Minn.; as well as other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, Harold, she was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Lyle Schuster and Hilton Schuster, and two brothers-in-law, Wilbur Keller and Ross Osborn.
