OBITUARY: Pastor Halvord Rosenqvist, Worth County, Iowa Pastor Halvord Rosenqvist Pastor H. Rosenqvist (72) pastor of Sion Church, east of Lake Mills, died Monday of a cerrebral hemorrhage. He had returned from a trip to Albert Lea an hour before he died. He had been a Lutheran pastor 49 years and would have celebrated his 50th anniversary as an ordained pastor in June of 1937. He was a graduate of Luther Seminary, Madison, WI and studied one year at Concordia Seminary. His first call to a congregation north of Minneapolis was served by him for three years before a call to Baldwin, WI, a large congregation, for 31 years. He came pastor of Sion on July 10, 1921. His funeral was held at Sion and at the home for the family. The Rev. S.J. Fretheim from Scarville was the pastor. Rev H. Nordby of Baldwin, WI and a large delegation from his former parish were present. He is survived by his wife; three sons, and two daughters, Rev. Rolf Rosenqvist, Nerstrand, MN; Bernard, Fargo, ND; George and Mrs. L.C. (Harriet) Helfer, Detroit, MI and Mrs. Alfred (Esther) Mansager, Chicago, IL. Rev. Halvord Rosenqvist was born February 28, 1864 at Kristiansand, Norway. He attended Middle school from 1871 to 1880 and was a private instructor in Latin and Greek from 1880-1881. He attended Christiana Latin School 1881-1884 and came to America in 1884. He married Miss Benny Olson in Minneapolis in 1888. There was such a large attendance at the funeral that loud speakers were arranged so that those outside could hear.
