OBITUARY: Malene Sorbo, Worth County, Iowa Malene Sorbo Malene Sorbo (75) died June 13, 1948 following a lengthy illness. The funeral was held at Salem Church. She is survived by eight children, Mrs. Writtenton Ofstaas, Albert Lea; Clarence, Sharon, ND; Mabel Larson, Silver Lake; Mrs. Lewine Torgerson, Duluth, MN; Reuben, Albert Lea; Walter, Silver Lake and Peter and Gilman, Lake Mills; 31 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Malena Heltne Sorbo was born November 20, 1872 in Worth Co., eldest of ten children of Peter and Anna Heltne. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Lars Tosdah. She married Ole Sorbo February 23, 1897 by Rev. N.E. Boe at Silver Lake Church. They lived on a farm in Silver Lake Twp. until 1920 when they moved to Lake Mills. In 1929 they moved to a farm near Leland and then to Lake Mills in 1939 for the rest of their lives. She is survived by seven sisters and brothers, Mrs. Lewis (Anna) Horvie, Gilbert, Lewis and Clarence Heltne, all of Lake Mills; Mrs. J.A. (Caroline) Holvik, Moorhead, MN; Eva, Minneapolis and Rev.
