OBITUARY: Eleanor Rohne Tue, Worth County, Iowa [Northwood Anchor Newspaper online - www.northwoodanchor.com - 10/23/2001] Monday services held for Eleanor Tue, 93 Eleanor Rohne Tue, 93, passed away from natural causes on Oct. 19, 2001, in Northwood IA. Funeral services were Monday at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Rev. Allan Stoa officiating. Burial was at the Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood, was in charge of arrangements. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard B. Tue, her parents Mathais and Annette Rohne, sisters Lulu Halver, Alice Cronwell, Olava Rislov, Thelma Hanson and brothers Irving Rohne and Martin Rohne. She is survived by two daughters, Janet (James) Hermanson and Kathleen (Chet) Harrison; two granddaughters Kirsten (Rob) Carolin and Melissa (Boake) Munsch; great grandson Benjamin Carolin, step-grandson C.J. (Hilde) Harrison and daughters Annika and Christina; sister-in-law Eleanor Low; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Eleanor was born on March 13, 1908, on the Rohne family farm in Freeborn County, MN. The Rev. David Stoeve baptized her on April 19, 1908, and the Rev. Hans Fosness confirmed her in the Lutheran faith on July 13, 1922 at Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church. She attended country school at District 125 and graduated from high school at LeRoy, MN in 1927. After graduating from Winona State Teachers College in 1929, she taught in the public schools for 12 years at Manchester, Glenville, Osage and District 125 where she had attended school as a young girl. On Sept. 25, 1937, she married Leonard B. Tue of Northwood at the Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church. They lived their entire married lives in Northwood at their home on 9th street just north of First Lutheran Church where they were active members. Eleanor's fondness for children continued, as she was Primary School Department Leader for 40 years from 1953-1992. She was also Past President of the First Lutheran Church Women, Deborah Circle, Stewardship Secretary for 13 years, sang in the Golden Tones church choir, and helped Leonard with custodial work for nine years. Eleanor devoted her time to other community activities by serving as an officer for the American Legion Auxiliary, Camera Club and the Entre Nous Study Club where she was a charter member. She helped at the Worth County Fair and took pride in receiving numerous winning ribbons for her flower and produce exhibits. Other favorite hobbies were crocheting afghans, collecting bells and serving as a Girl Scout Leader. Eleanor died peacefully surrounded by her daughters' love at the Lutheran Retirement Home where she received gentle and loving care since 1998.
