OBITUARY: Deloris M. Appel, Worth County, Iowa [ The Northwood Anchor March 05, 2002 www.northwoodanchor.com ] Deloris M. Appel Deloris M. Appel, 75, of Northwood, IA, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Funeral services were Monday at the First Shell Rock Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Rev. Karl Hermanson officiating. Burial was in the Lake Mills Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Mills. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood, was in charge of arrangements. Deloris was born on March 5, 1926 to Arthur and Bertha (Hansen) Hillman in Worth County, IA. She was baptized and confirmed at First Shell Rock Church, Northwood. Deloris attended school in Hartland Township and Northwood High School. On May 17, 1944 she married Russell E. Appel. They resided in the Lake Mills, Northwood area most of their lives. Deloris was an active member of her Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and entertaining. Her positive attitude was a blessing to all. Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell; three brothers, Arlington, Harris and Dale; two sister Ruby Hillman and Ruth Stevens; one grandson, Michael Appel, Jr. Deloris was blessed with four children, JoAnn Solomonson and her husband Orlan of Blaine, MN, Michael Appel and fiance Deborah Lackerman of San Diego, CA, Candace Daugard and fiance Monte Ryan of Peoria, AZ and Russ and Allison Appel of Jewell, IA; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; five sisters, Inez Henrichs of California, Bernice Stevens of Albert Lea, MN, Dorothy Estes of Northwood, Mavis Roppe of Northwood, and Junice Skogen of Albert Lea, MN.
