Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Conner Colonial Chapel of Northwood. ------------------------------------------ #2 Posted May 14, 2002 Derwin "Dewey" Sigurd Dahl, 84, of Glenville, MN, formerly of Northwood, died Monday, May 6, 2002, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral services were Friday at First Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Rev. Paul Holmer and Rev. Allan Stoa officiating. Burial was in the Kensett Cemetery. The family of Derwin "Dewey" Dahl has requested that memorial contributions be made to the First Lutheran Church in Northwood, Kensett Cemetery, or to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly, in his memory. Conner Colonial Chapel of Northwood was in charge of the arrangements. Derwin "Dewey" Sigurd Dahl was born on March 10, 1918, in Decorah, IA, the son of Dr. Sigurd and Imo (Zachery) Dahl. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended and received his education in the Manly school system. He married Dora Geneva Loland on July 20, 1941 in LeCenter, MN. She preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 1996. Dewey farmed all his life in the Manly area, before moving to Northwood in 1989, and in 1998, moved to Glenville, MN. He married Lila Ellingson on Nov. 11, 2000, at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood. Dewey enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, wintering in Phoenix, Mesa, and Apache Junction, AZ since 1981, playing cards, dancing, and visiting, with his many friends at the coffee shop, and the senior citizens center. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Northwood, former member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly, Isaac Walton League in Kensett, Eagles Club in Albert Lea, Glenville, MN Senior Citizen Center, and the Stateline Stinkers and Riverside Neighborhood Club both in Glenville, MN. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Lila Dahl of Glenville, MN; three children, Donavon Dahl and his wife Janey of Phoenix, AZ, LaVern Dahl and his wife Tanya of Mason City, Imogene Woodhouse and her husband Paul of Albert Lea, MN; four step-children, Donna Mittag and her husband Bruce of Glenville, MN, Connie Thompson and her husband Larry of Glenville, MN, LeRoy Ellingson and his wife Kathy of Clemson, SC, and LaDon Ellingson and special friend Kim Johnson of Glenville, MN; four grandchildren, Tamie Mehus and her husband Brad of Albert Lea, MN, Tennile Turnbull and her husband Tom of Albert Lea, MN, Tiffani Allen and her husband Brad of Hampton, and Courtny Dahl and her fiance Adam Trappe of Mason City; 11 step-grandchildren, Dorenne Hansen and her husband Michael of Glenville, MN, Bonnie Anding and her husband Curtis of West Concord, MN, David Mittag and his wife April of New London, MO, Brenda Wehking and her husband Troy of Avoca, MN, Stacie Stensrud and her husband Dale of Freeborn, MN, Justin Thompson of Minneapolis, MN, Shawn Ellingson and his wife Sharyl of Glenville, N., Kelly Ellingson and his wife Bridget of Glenville, MN, Jason Ellingson and his wife Mindy of Austin, MN, Travis Ellingson in the Navy in South Carolina, and Karri Ellingson of California; 18 great-grandchildren; a special aunt, Alma Backhaus, of Manly; as well as other relatives and many special friends.
