OBITUARY: Aslaug Johnson Flatland, Worth County, Iowa Obituary for Aslaug Johnson Flatland Gullixon - Mrs. Aslaug Gullixon passed away at the home of her daughter, Anne Gullixon, on Wednesday, April 28th, and was buried in the old Silver Lake cemetery near the Somber parochial school, Rev. A. J. Torgerson officiating on Saturday, May 1st. Mrs. Gullixon was born March 5th, 1833, in Jerdals parish in Telemarken, Norway. Her parents were John Johanneson Flatland and wife Anne. Under their guidance and protection she grew to mature womanhood. She married Ole Gullixon and to this union was born five children of which one died in infancy. Her husband died in 1863 and she was left a widow with four dependent children. In 1866 she parted with relatives and friends in Norway and came across the ocean to America where she had two sisters living in Worth county. These are Mrs. Mari Levorson and Miss Margit Johnson, pioneer settlers in Bristol township. For a number of years Mrs. Gullixon with her children rented farms, moving from place to place until in 1883 they established a home on the 80-acre farm in Bristol township now owned by Anne Gullixon. Here Mrs. Gullixon has had a pleasant home in her old age under the tender and constant care of her devoted daughter. Until about a year ago her health was good, but the last year she has been failing. When she consulted a physician be found her ailment to be cancer and incurable. At times this malady caused her acute pain and towards the last it became very difficult for her to take any nourishment. Death came as a welcome guest to her. She was relieved of her suffering and departed in peace. Besides her daughter Anne, she leaves a son, Amund Gullixon, residing at Blue Earth, Minn.
