OBITUARY: Anetta G. Bratrud Groven, Worth County, Iowa [Northwood Anchor online - www.northwoodanchor.com - Posted August 20, 2002] Anetta G. Groven Anetta G. Groven, 88, of Visalia, CA, formerly of Kensett, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at the TLC Senior Living Center in Visalia, CA. Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett, with Selmer G. "Sam" Hernes officiating. Burial was at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Kensett. The family of Anetta G. Groven has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Elk Creek Lutheran Church in her memory. Anetta G. Groven was born on April 30, 1914, in Kensett, the daughter of Andrew and Thora Bratrud. She was raised and educated in Iowa. She was united in marriage to Albin Groven in 1930, in Kensett. After their marriage together they owned and operated a family farm in Minnesota. Anetta moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1946. In Colorado Springs, she was employed by Broadmoor Hotel as a housekeeping supervisor for 26 years until her retirement in 1982. In 1997, she moved to Visalia to be with her daughter. She was a member of the Indian Heights Nazarene Church in Colorado Springs. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gerald Groven and his wife Pati of Sun Lakes, AZ; Arvin Groven and his wife Marilyn of Colorado Springs, CO; Alton Groven of Kensett; Donald Groven and his wife Linda of St. Paul, MN; Geneva Jennings and her husband Sid of Lyons, GA and Darlene Haley and her husband Roger of Visalia, CA; a sister, Gena Tageson of Mason City; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.
