OBITUARY: Anna Gullikson, Worth County, Iowa Funeral Rites For Miss A. Gullikson Resident of Bristol Township, 65 Years, dies of Pneumonia After Short Illness Funeral services for Miss Anna Gullikson were held last Thursday afternoon at Somber Synod Lutheran church in Bristol township, preceded by a brief prayer service at her home two miles south of that church, where she had lived for 65 years. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church. The Rev. J. Madson, pastor of the Somber congregation, officiated at the rites. Miss Gullikson died Tuesday, Feb. 5, at her home. She was 85 years old on Jan. 19 of this year and shortly after her birthday anniversary she was stricken with pneumonia. She weakened rapidly and her illness, complicated with a heart weakness, resulted in her death. She was born Jan. 19, 1861, in Telemarken, Norway, the daughter of Gullik and Aslaug Gullikson. Five years later, in 1866, she left her home country together with her mother and three brothers. They settled in Worth county where Anna spent the remainder of her long life, the last 65 years on her farm home. She was the last survivor of her immediate family and of her near relatives she left only two nephews and three nieces, all children of her brother, Anon. They are Albert Gullikson, Blue Earth, Minn.; Gilbert Gullikson, of Worth county; Mrs. Lena Jacobson, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Minnie Han, Charles City; Mrs. Clara Herd, Flint, Mich. After the death of her mother in 1926, Miss Gullikson lived alone until three years ago when her nephew Gilbert and his wife moved to her farm home and looked after her welfare. She was a charter member of the Somber Lutheran church. (Northwood Anchor - Feb 1946) Copyright (c) 2002 by Chad K.
