OBITUARY: Thor J. Holstad, 1833-1920, Worth County, Iowa



                            Thor J. Holstad

Thor J. Holstad (86) father of Julius Holstad of Lake Mills, died Sunday at
his home in Silver Lake Twp.  He died at the home of his son, Joe Holstad,
on March 21, 1920.  He was born in Vik Sogn, Norway on December 24, 1833.
He came to America in 1877, settling with a brother in Winnebago Co. where
he lived one year, then moved to Worth Co. where he had been a resident 42
years.

He is survived by two sons and two daughters: Joe Holstad, Silver Lake;
Julius Holstad, Lake Mills; Mrs. Gregar Nordskog, Silver Lake Twp.,
and Miss Lena Holstad; 9 grandchildren, one brother in Norway.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Sondscohl and Johanna.

Funeral was held at Silver Lake, with Rev. H. Fosness officiating.
