OBITUARY: Dale Virgil Hrubetz, Worth County, Iowa [Northwood Anchor online - www.northwoodanchor.com - May 21, 2002] Dale Virgil Hrubetz Dale Virgil Hrubetz, 68, of Manly, died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services were Tuesday at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett with Rev. Selmer G. "Sam" Hernes officiating. Burial was in the Kensett Cemetery with military graveside honors by the Edward Tosel American Legion Post #110 of Manly. The family of Dale Virgil Hrubetz has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Dale Virgil Hrubetz memorial fund in his memory. Dale Virgil Hrubetz was born on July 8, 1933, in Kensett, the son of Edward and Nina (Helgeson) Hrubetz. He attended and received his education in the Kensett School system. After completing his schooling he worked at the Manly Creamery before entering the service. Dale was inducted into the U.S. Army at Ft. Des Moines on Feb. 16, 1956, and served with the 6th Infantry Regiment, behind the Iron Curtain during the Berlin Crises and was appointed a Guardian of the Outpost of Democracy, and was honorably discharged as a Specialist 3 at Ft. Sheridan, IL on Feb. 3, 1958. After his honorable discharge he came back to Manly and continued working at the Manly Creamery and farmed in the Manly area. Dale also worked for Armour Meat Packing Company in Mason City for 30 years until his retirement. He married Sharon Hagen on Feb. 13, 1960, in Manly. He was a member of the Edward Tosel American Legion Post #110 in Manly. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Sheryl Madson of Northwood, Steve Hrubetz of Manly and his special friend, Chris of Mason City, Sandy Grandgenett and her husband Kevin of Mason City, and Stan Hrubetz and his wife Teri of Manly; nine grandchildren, Michelle, Lee, Ashley, Haley, Jessica, Jennifer, Danielle, Alex, and Kaitlyn; Sharon Hrubetz of Mason City; and a sister, Deloris Johnson and her husband Omer of Northwood; as well as other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Luella Roggeman, and a brother Leland Hrubetz.
