OBITUARY: Maxine Lois Schmidt Kopetjka 1934-2002, Worth County, Iowa Maxine Lois Kopetjka [The Northwood Anchor online -- Posted October 29, 2002] Maxine Lois Kopetjka, 67, Manly, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at her home in Manly. Memorial services were Saturday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly with Rev. Randy Nielsen officiating. Graveside committal service were held prior to the memorial service at the Grafton Cemetery. According to her wishes her body was cremated. Maxine Lois Kopetjka was born on Dec. 16, 1934, in Mason City, the daughter of Emil and Elizabeth (Wirtjes) Schmidt. She was baptized and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton. She attended and received her education in the Plymouth and Rock Falls Schools, graduating from Rock Falls High School. Maxine also attended and graduated with a nursing degree from North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. After completing her schooling Maxine worked for Mercy Hospital for 23 years as a nurse in the O.B. and ped's floor, retiring due to ill health. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, and handwork, but her great love and enjoyment was her family and grandchildren, and spending time with them. Maxine also loved and enjoyed being very active in the church circle at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly, She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly and the Rebecca Lodge in Manly. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ronald Kopetjka of Grand Prairie, TX, Rhonda Chodur and her husband Richard of Joice, and Joleen Kalvig and her husband Bob of Manly; 10 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Schmidt and his wife Donna of Nora Springs, and Donald Schmidt and his wife Anna Jean of Hotchkiss, CO; several nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and many friends.
