OBITUARY: Alvin H. Madson, Worth County, Iowa Alvin H. Madson [The Northwood Anchor online - captured Friday 9 August, 2002 ] Alvin H. Madson, 76, of 716 460th Street, died Saturday, July 27, 2002 at his home in Northwood. Funeral services was held Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, 1000 First Avenue North, Northwood, with the Reverend Richard S. Jensen officiating. A private family inurnment service will be held at Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood, later in the week. Conner Colonial Chapel of Northwood is in charge of the arrangements. Alvin was born April 30, 1926 on the family farm west of Northwood, the son of Louis and Ida (Hove) Madson. He graduated from Northwood High School and worked along side his father on the family farm. Alvin was united in marriage to Jane P. Schaefer in October 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center, Iowa. He bought the family farm from his father in 1959 and continued to farm until 1971, when he began work at Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa. Alvin worked at Winnebago for over 20 years. After his wife passed away in 1972, Alvin devoted his life to taking care of his children. One of their most cherished activities was the annual family vacation they took every summer. Alvin was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Northwood and greatly enjoyed singing in the choir. Alvin is survived by two sons, Andrew Madson of Northwood and Anthony Madson and his wife, Katherine, of Fairhope, AL, one daughter, Connie Weekley and her husband, Brian, of Plymouth, MN, four grandchildren, Anthony, Elizabeth, and Emily Madson and Nathaniel Weekley, one brother, Lloyd Madson of Northwood, one sister, Ann Hanna and her husband, Alan, of Woden, and many other relatives.
