OBITUARY: Clarence Albert Millis, Worth County, Iowa Clarence Albert Millis [ Northwood anchor - July 16, 2002 - northwoodanchor.com ] Clarence Albert Millis, 95, Northwood, IA, died Monday, July 8, 2002 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood. He has been a resident of the Northwood Retirement Home since February of 2002. Funeral service was Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Northwood with Rev. Richard Jensen officiating. Interment was in Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Conner Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements. He was born May 30, 1907 to Harry Frances Millis and Laura Cordella Ferguson in Monatau County, MO. In 1918 they moved to area near Fort Dodge, IA. In 1922 they moved to Worth County. Clarence attended country school through the eighth grade. On Dec. 14, 1933 Clarence married Ruth Elizabeth Ruffridge in Mason City. They made their home with his parents near Bolan, helping on the farm until 1944 when they moved to Mitchell County, to a truck farm owned by C.C. Hansen. He was a foreman there for 30 years. In 1972 Clarence and Ruth moved to an acreage north of Mona, IA. He continued to raise vegetables for farmers market. Sometime in the late 80's or early 90's he retired. He and Ruth moved to Northwood and lived in the Viking Manor South until February 2002. He is survived by his wife Ruth Millis, Northwood; two daughters Shirley Schoppers, Harmony, MN and Sherry Jacobsen, Inver Grove Heights, MN; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister Pearl Plath and her husband Cecil, Bolan. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Riley and Irving Millis; one sister Dorothy Taylor; son-in-law Keith Schoppers and four nieces.
