OBITUARY: Beulah Mae Patterson Packard, 1906-2002, Worth Co., Iowa Beulah Mae Packard [The Northwood Anchor, online -- posted December 03, 2002] Beulah Mae Packard, 96, of Northwood, died Saturday Nov. 30, 2002 at the Manly Care Center. Funeral services were Monday at the United Methodist Church, Northwood, with Pastor Richard Jensen and Ann Kuhlman officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood. The family of Beulah Mae Packard has requested that memorial contributions be made to the United Methodist Church in Northwood or Hospice of North Iowa in her memory. Beulah Mae Packard was born on April 22, 1906, in Shell Rock, IA, the daughter of Albert and Edith (Horting) Patterson. She attended Shell Rock Community schools and Northwood High School graduating in 1925. Beulah also attended and graduated from Hamilton Business College in Mason City. She married Charles Packard on Dec. 2, 1929. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1985. Beulah worked as a bookkeeper at the Chevrolet garage in Northwood. They farmed for many years northeast of Northwood until their retirement, then they moved to Northwood. She loved all children and after her retirement was a babysitter for various families in the Northwood area. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, driving around North Iowa area, her church circle and the Semper Fidelis Study Club in Northwood. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Northwood. Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Vivian Carberry and her husband Arthur of Mason City; a sister-in-law, Geneva Patterson of Northwood; nieces and nephews, Dennis Carberry and his wife Bambi of Mason City, Cheryl Dorsey and her husband Shawn of Shreve Port, Louisiana, Jenny, Jessica, Katie, and Jason Carberry all of Mason City, Erin and Meaghan Dorsey both of Shreve Port, Louisiana, Shirley Tapp of Austin, MN, Arlene Bakke of California, Leonard Patterson, Larry Patterson of St. Ansgar, Harvey, Richard, Howard, and Claire Patterson all of Northwood, and Virgil Patterson of California; many great-nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends. Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Charles Packard, Jr., a daughter, Virginia Mae Packard, three brothers, Earl, Russell, and Robert Patterson and a nephew, Dewayne Patterson.
