OBITUARY: Warren Wayne "Ole" Perkins, Worth County, Iowa [Northwood Anchor online - www.northwoodanchor.com - May 07, 2002] Warren (Ole) Perkins Warren (Ole) Perkins, 78, Northwood, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral services were Saturday at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Kensett, with Rev. Allan Stoa officiating. Interment was at the Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood, was in charge of arrangements. Warren (Ole) Wayne Perkins was born to Clifford and Ida (Johnson) Perkins on Feb. 19, 1924 on a farm near Meltonville, IA. He was baptized and confirmed at Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter, and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett. He graduated from Otranto High School in 1941 where he had attended all 12 years of school. Warren married Dorothy Carlson on March 18, 1944. Warren served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946 in the Pacific Theater in Occupied China. He farmed near Otranto and then moved to a farm north of Bolan in 1950. He worked for Ralston Purina as an outside salesman, then managed the Rath Feed Store in Otranto until a car accident left him a paraplegic in 1972. In 1976 he and his wife moved to Northwood where he lived until the time of his death. He pitched baseball for Carpenter, Thompson and Northwood in the Borderline League. Baseball and other sports were his interests along with playing cribbage with his family and many friends. He enjoyed spending winters in Texas and Arizona. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy (Carlson) Perkins and his family which includes his daughter Vickie Hall and husband Robert, Northwood, grandchildren David, Philadelphia, PA, Dan and wife Denise, Kensett, and Doug and wife Amber, Two Rivers, WI; daughter Sheryl Jahnel and special friend Robert Mitchell, Cedar Rapids, grandchildren Chad Jahnel, Iowa City, Michelle Kitterman and husband Robert, Johnston, and Kyle and special friend Dawn, Cedar Rapids; daughter Mary Perkins and husband Scott Hunt, Crescent, grandchildren Olivia Arnold and husband Donnell, Des Moines, Hanna Roppe, Council Bluffs and Mia Roppe and special friend Marty West, Honey Creek; step-grandchildren Shandra and Morgan Hunt, California; great-grandchildren Lindsay and Collin Hall, Kensett, Felicia Roppe, Council Bluffs, Alexandria and Quin Kitterman, Johnston, and Jaden Arnold, Des Moines and step-grandchildren Vanessa Smith, Two Rivers, WI; brother Lloyd (Jack) Perkins and wife, Irma, Northwood; sisters, Mildred Watt James, Austin, MN, sisters-in-law, Nona Wilson, Tucson, AZ and Pearl Carlson, Pasco, WA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Hazel Glassell, Doris Hollerud Lee and brother Clinton (Happy) Perkins.
