OBITUARY: Edward G. Ryan, Worth County, Iowa Edward G. Ryan Edward G. Ryan, 74, prominent retired Joice farmer, died Sunday at 8 a.m. (6-30-1968) at Mercy Hospital, Mason City, where he had entered several days earlier for treatment of a heart ailment. Funeral rites were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Lake Mills, by Rev. Donald Hawes, Mason City. Burial was in the St.Patrick Catholic Cemetery at Bristol. The rosary was said Monday evening at Anderson Mittelstadt Funeral Home. Mr. Ryan was born March 2, 1894 at Joice to Edward T. and Sarah (Gaynor) Ryan and lived his entire life on the Ryan farm which had been in the family nearly 100 years, and was of the third generation on the farm. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. A veteran of WWI, he was a member of Myhre-Elliott American Legion Post 713 at Joice. He served many years as a Bristol Township trustee and election judge and was on the board of directors of the Joice Cooperative Elevator. Mr. Ryan was never married. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Will, Vincent and James, and one sister, Jennie.
