OBITUARY: Orville Andrew Sundvold, Worth County, Iowa Orville Andrew Sundvold [ The Northwood Anchor online - July 16, 2002 - www.northwoodanchor.com ] Orville Andrew Sundvold, 73, of Hanlontown, died Monday, July 8, 2002 at the Good Shepherd Health Care Center, in Mason City. Funeral services was Thursday at the Grace Lutheran Church in Hanlontown with Rev. Randy Nielsen officiating. Burial was in the Brush Point Cemetery, rural Hanlontown, with military graveside honors by the Edward Tosel American Legion Post #110 of Manly. Orville Andrew Sundvold was born on Sept. 22, 1928, in Hanlontown, the son of Andrew and Auslaug Sundvold. He was baptized and reaffirmed the faith of his baptism through confirmation at the Grace Lutheran Church in Hanlontown. He attended and received his education in the Hanlontown School system, graduating from Hanlontown High School. He married Ovila Anderson on Jan. 30, 1950, in Mason City. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on Sept. 22, 1950, at Fort Hood, TX and served in the Infantry with the Fifth Army in Korea, and was discharged as Private First Class on July 27, 1951. After his honorable discharge he came back to the North Iowa area and attended and graduated from Hamilton Business College in Mason City with an accounting degree. After completing his schooling he worked for Wilson Lumber yard in Mason City. Orville started his own Sundvold Construction and Housing Company in Hanlontown, which he owned and operated for over 35 years until his retirement. He enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, and going to McCluskey, ND visiting the land his parents lived on. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hanlontown. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Ovila Sundvold of Hanlontown; children, Sandra Chapin and her husband James of Hanlontown, Jay Sundvold of Hanlontown, and Jody Sundvold of Maquoketa, Iowa; five grandchildren and one great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
