OBITUARY: Urania L. Thompson, Worth County, Iowa Urania L. Thompson [ The Northwood Anchor - July 09, 2002 - www.northwoodanchor.com ] Urania L. Thompson, 91, Albert Lea, MN, formerly of Northwood, died Monday, July 1, 2002, at the St. John's Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, MN. Funeral services were Friday at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood, with Rev. Allan Stoa officiating. Burial was at the Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Urania was born on Sept. 12, 1910 in Sterling, Alberta, Canada to George and Ada (Sumpter) Lockie. She went to Cut Bank, Montana and Riceville, IA with her parents. She finished high school and started to teach in Howard County. Later she went to work in Mason City in a fabric store. At that time she met Ernest and later they were married. They lived on a farm near Northwood for several years and then moved into town until his death April 29, 1991. After his death she sold their home and moved to Knutson Place in Albert Lea. During June 1995 she became ill and moved into St. John's Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, MN. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Northwood. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest; two children Doris and James; one sister and one brother. Survivors include her brother, Charles Lockie of Dewey, AZ; several grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Luella Thompson of Albert Lea, MN.
