OBITUARY: LuVerne O. Throne, Worth County, Iowa LuVerne O. Throne [ The Northwood Anchor - July 16, 2002 - www.northwoodanchor.com ] LuVerne O. Throne, 81, of Mason City, died Sunday, July 7, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral service was Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Kenneth Hatland officiating. Interment was at Kensett Cemetery, Kensett, IA. LuVerne was born July 17, 1920 in Worth County, IA, the son of Ovie and Lissie (Olsen) Throne. He attended country schools in Worth County before entering the United States Army in 1942 to serve during World War II. After his discharge in 1945, LuVerne married Eva E. Gore on March 3, 1946 in Des Moines, IA. They were longtime residents of Manly while LuVerne worked as a cement finisher for Percy Construction of Mason City for over 20 years. They moved to the Regency Apartments in Mason City several years ago. He was a member of the Mason City Moose Lodge, the American Legion Post in Manly, and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. LuVerne enjoyed fishing, reading, and gardening, but especially loved spending time with his family. LuVerne is survived by one son, James Throne and his wife, Penny, of Plymouth, MN, one daughter, Nancy Peters of Mason City, three grandchildren, Doug Peters and his wife, Connie, of Rochester, MN, Steve Peters of Thornton, and Kelly Throne of Minneapolis, MN, one great-grandchild, Taylor Peters of Rochester, MN, three sisters, Loretta Hertzog and her husband, Bob, of Phoenix, AZ, and Talora Grosland and Arlene Johnson, both of Albert Lea, MN, one sister-in-law, Doris Throne, of Mason City, and two brothers, Lloyd Throne of Faribault, MN, and Raymond Throne of Phoenix, AZ. LuVerne was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eva, one son, Michael Throne, one son-in-law, Lynn Peters, and three brothers, Harley, Talford, and Orville Throne.
