OBITUARY: Mildred D. (Biegler) Vaage, Worth County, Iowa Mildred D. Biegler Vaage [ The Northwood Anchor online - posted July 23, 2002 ] Mildred D. Vaage, 89, died July 17, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City. Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. Burial was in Brush Point Cemetery in Fertile. Mildred D. Vaage was born in Goodell, IA, on Nov. 4, 1912, the daughter of Frank and Ella (Guest) Biegler. She received her education in Evansville, IN. She married Helmer Vaage on June 28, 1931, in Northwood at the Lutheran parsonage. The couple farmed near Kensett for many years. In 1968 they moved to Forest City where they have since resided. Mildred was devoted to her family but gave generously of her time to her church and friends, also. For many years she led Bible study at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City. Mildred is survived by five children, Roger Vaage and wife, Susan, of Marion; Glenn Vaage of Clear Lake; Norma Gordon and husband, Richard of Northwood; Helen Holstad and husband, Richard of Northwood and Karen White and husband, Mylan of Joice; a brother, Frank Biegler of Evansville, IN; two sisters, Ida Mae Hartig of Poseyville, IN and Norma Temme of Evansville, IN; nine grandchildren, Marcia Holstad; Kari Maas and husband, Jim; John Evans and wife, Janet; Paul Evans and wife, Dawn; Martin Vaage and wife, Elizabeth; Brian Vaage; Christopher Vaage and wife, Janet and Daniel White and wife, Denise; and five great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Helmer; a sister, Margarite Powers; and two grandchildren, Russell Hol-stad and Jennifer Johnson and her husband, Robb.
