OBITUARY: Emma Schmeckpeper Barker, 1899-1981, Worth Co., Iowa [St. Ansgar Enterprise, 1 JAN 1981] (Copyrighted) Mrs. Emma Barker Funeral Held Monday, December 29 Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Barker, 81, of Carpenter, who died at her home Thursday, December 25, were held Monday, December 29 at the First United Methodist church in Northwood with the Rev. James Riley officiating. Mrs. Barker was born May 26, 1899 in Pender, Neb., the daughter of Fred and Dorothy (Sebady) Schmeckpeper. She attended schools in Nebraska. She married John Barker in Nebraska February 12, 1920. They farmed in Bloomfield, Neb. and then moved to Northwood in 1938 where they farmed for many years. They moved to Carpenter in 1962. She was a member of the Northwood Legion Auxiliary, the First United Methodist church of Northwood and church circles. Mrs. Barker is survived by three sons: Douglas and Lyle of Carpenter and Bob od Donaldsville, Ga.; four daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Vernice) Olson, Northwood; Mrs. George (Elaine) Dierks of St. Ansgar and Mrs. Garroll (May) Ewald of Tucson, Ariz. and Mrs. Charles (Phyllis) Mitchell of Kensett; also 25 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John; five brothers; two sisters and three grandchildren. Burial was in Sunset Rest cemetery in Northwood with Rev.
