OBITUARY: Ellef Hagen, 1863-1943, Worth County, Iowa Ellef Hagen Ellef Hagen (64) died May 29, 1943 at his home four miles east of Lake Mills where he had resided sixty-nine years. The funeral was held at Sion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Helleckson officiating. He was born January 23, 1863 at Sigdal, Norway. He came to America in 1868 at 5 1/2 years of age, with his parents, Lars E. and Kari Hagen, locating in Bristol Twp. which continued to be his home. He married Julia Lien of Bristol, native of Allamakee Co., whose parents came to Worth Co. at an early date. They were married March 28, 1888. They became parents of eight children. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Otto Kallheim of Kensett in 1932. He is survived by his wife; four sons and three daughters, Lauritz, Leland; Martin and Carl, Hanlontown; Albert, Lake Mills; Mrs. Gunder Wake, who with her husband, has lived at the farm home the past few years; Mrs. Hans Ulveness, Northwood and Mrs. Selmer Brustad, Scarville; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. One grandchild, Norris Hagen, preceded him in death in 1929. Mrs. Mary Hanson of Northwood is a sister and only surviving member of his family group. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kittel and Even, Worth Co. and a sister, Mrs. Albert (Emma) Jostad, Bottinneau, ND.
