OBITUARY: Hans Halvorson, 1868-1942, Worth County, Iowa



                           Hans Halvorson

Hans Halvorson (74) a resident of Silver Lake Twp. for 70 years died 
suddenly early Monday, December 21, 1942 at his farm home near the 
Silver Lake Town Hall.  The funeral was held at Somber Church, with the 
Rev. Martin Galsted officiating.  He was born May 20, 1868 near Decorah, 
coming to Silver Lake when he was four years of age.  He was baptized 
and confirmed at Somber Church.

He married Louise Dahl on July 3, 1891, also from a pioneer family of
Silver Lake. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in July
of 1941.  They had fourteen children, with the following surviving:
Mabel, Alfred, Lawrence, Palma, Hazel, Elvina, Melvin and Dina.  Also
surviving is one sister, Mrs. Ingri Hagen, 23 grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
