OBITUARY: Belva M. Hanson, 1907-2003, Worth Co., Iowa [ The Northwood Anchor online - www.northwoodanchor.com - February 18, 2003 ] Belva M. Hanson Belva M. Hanson, 95, of rural Carpenter, died on Feb. 10, 2003 at the Hampton Health Care Center, Hampton, IA. Funeral services were Friday at Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter, with Irmgard Ellingson officiating. Burial was at Deer Creek Cemetery, Carpenter. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood, was in charge of arrangements. Belva was born on Dec. 17, 1907 in Mt. Carroll, IL, to Seth F. and Margaret (Rawlins) Kenyon. She graduated from Leland High School in 1926 and then from nurses training at Park Hospital, Mason City. She married Myron Hanson on June 24, 1936 at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter. Belva was an active homemaker and farm wife after her marriage. She returned to nursing in 1965 at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood. She enjoyed two trips to Europe which included Scandanavia, Germany and England. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and six brothers. Survivors include two sons, Lowell Hanson of Cottage Grove, MN, and Lyle Hanson of Tacoma, WA; two daughters, Myra Peterson of Austin, MN, and Evelyn Cross of Hampton, IA; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother Rodney Kenyon of Dexter, MN.
