OBITUARY: Torjus Haugo, 1908-1993, Worth County, Iowa



                             Torjus Haugo

Torjus Haugo (84) died at the Lake Mills Care Center on May 17, 1993. 
The funeral was held at Sion Church, with the Rev. Don Benson
officiating and burial in the church cemetery.  Torg was born June 7,
1908 in Bristol Twp., Worth Co., to Ole and Anne (Heimdal) Haugo.

He was baptized and confirmed at Sion Church and graduated from the LMHS
in 1926.  He married Marie Charlson at Winnebago Church on June 17, 1934. 
Torg worked for community Oil Co., Lake Mills, served in the navy during
WW II and farmed the family farm until he retired in 1958. Torg was a
pioneer aviator, giving many Lake Mills area people their first plane
rides. He was a member of Sons of Norway, American Legion, Lions Club
and Issac Walton League.

He is survived by Marie Haugo, one son, Gene and wife, Beverly Haugo,
Lake Mills; two daughters, Barbara and husband, Robert Best, Garner;
Marilyn and husband Jerry Hanson Lino Lakes, MN; 13 grandchildren and
18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold and wife, Marjorie Haugo,
Kasson, MN and Walter and wife, Mary Jo Haugo, Litchfield, MN: and sisters,
Amanda, Thora, Rachel and Agnes.
