OBITUARY: Josephine Christena Horvei Troe, 1873-1965, Worth County, Iowa


                     Josephine Christena Horvei Troe

Mrs. B.N. (Josephine) Troe (92) lifetime resident of the community, died
March 25, 1965 at her home where she had been confined to her bed for
ten days.  The funeral was held at Salem Church, with the Rev. Kenneth 
Hatland officiating and burial in the Silver Lake Cemetery.  She had 
been a member of Silver Lake Church until 1944 when she joined Salem.  

Josephine Christena Horvei Troe was born June 5, 1873 to Mr. and Mrs.
Andrew Horvei of Silver Lake.  She married B.N. Troe in March of 1892.  
They lived in Silver Lake until her husband retired from farming and 
they purchased a home in Lake Mills.

She is survived by four daughters:  Mrs. Edwin (Hilda) Hagen, Osage;
Mrs. Clarence (Eva) Sime, Northwood; Mrs. Laura Nesby and Mrs. Alma
Brua, Lake Mills and three sons:  Helmer and Burnell, Twin Lakes and
Alvin, Emmons; 30 grandchildren; 94 great-grandchildren and 17 great-
great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1949, a daughter, Mrs.
Gilman (Cora) Groe, her parents, sisters, Mrs. Henry (Anna) Moe, Mrs.Ole 
(Agnes) Furness, Mrs. John (Mathia) Nordahl and five brothers, John, 
Olai, Oscar, Lewis and Albert Horvei.  (Graphic 3-31-1965)
