Marlene Miller
Marlene Miller, Whittier, California, died Aug. 13, 2003 at
Presbyterian Hospital in Whittier, California.
Memorial services were held at Calvary Chapel of Downey where she attended
church and worked. Pastor Rudy Cardenas officiated. She was buried next
to her mother, Merle Hove, at El Camino Memorial Park, San Diego, California.
Marlene was the daughter of Orville and Merle Hove of Northwood. She
graduated from Northwood High School in 1953. She attended LaJames
Beauty College where she graduated in 1953. While in college she met
Ivan Miller of Mason City, Iowa. They were married Sept. 19, 1954. Ivan
was still in the Navy, so they went back to Long Beach until he got out
of the Navy. Then they moved back to Iowa where Marlene worked as a
beautician. Then they moved back to California. She worked at Cal
State Long Beach in Long Beach, CA for 15 years, then went to work
for Calvary Chapel of Downey where she worked for nine years in day
care. She loved to work with kids of all ages and was well liked by all.
Survivors include her husband Ivan Miller of Whittier, California, and
three sons, Kerry and wife Peggy of LaMirada, California, Tim of Aguanga,
California, and Dirk of Whittier, California; sisters, Donna and husband
Bill Weber of Glenville, Minnesota, Cathy and husband Monty Mongtane of
El Cajon, California, and Debbie and husband John Lutz of El Cajon,
California; brothers, Orville Jr. (Bud) Hove of Spring Valley, California,
Chuck and Karen Hove of Northwood, and sister-in-law Barbara Hove; and
nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Orville and Merle Hove and brother,
Larry Hove.
