OBITUARY: Jane L. (Shaw) Last, 1939-2003, Worth Co., Iowa (copyrighted) [Northwood Anchor online - posted July 9, 2003] Jane L. Last Jane L. Last, 63, of Ottumwa, died July 4, 2003 at her home Funeral services were Tuesday at the Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Rev. Lon Lewis officiating. Christina Court #3 Order of Amaranth will also conduct services at the funeral home. Burial was in Westview Cemetery in Kirkville. Jane was born Aug. 20, 1939 in Ottumwa to Darrell and Ruth Jones Shaw. She married John Last April 15, 1961. They divorced in 1989. They moved to Forest City in June of 1967, then to Northwood in December of 1969. She worked for Northwood Anchor Publishing Co. from 1977 to 1985 and for the Worth County Dept. of Human Services from 1989 to 1993. She was a member and presently Royal Matron Elect of Christina Court #3 Order of Amaranth and a member of Rose Chapter #552 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and Abigail Circle. She served eight years as president of First Lutheran Women and two years on Cluster II Leadership Team. She was active in Iowa Lutheran Via de Cristo, serving as Forest City area representative on the state Secretariat and in various positions for the Forest City Via de Cristo weekends. She was also active in Girl scouts for 10 years, two years a a Junior Girl Scout leader, four years as Neighborhood Chairman for Northwood-Kensett and one term on the North Iowa Girl Scout Council. She spent 10 years in the Cub Scout program, member of the TUNE board, Red Cross disaster team and life member of the Worth County Historical Society. Surviving is a daughter, Catherine M. Hove of Mason City; two sons, John David Last of Ottumwa and Robert L. Last of Oskaloosa; four grandchildren, Nicholas Hove, Zachary and Micah Chavez, all of Mason City, and Joseph Last of Ottumwa, and a brother, Robert L. (Connie) Shaw of Ottumwa. She is preceded in death by her parents.
