OBITUARY: Marjory Louise Narum, 1917-2003, Worth county, Iowa [ Adapted from Northwood Anchor online - posted Dec. 3, 2003 ] Marjory Louise Nelson Marjory Louise Nelson, 86, of Northwood, Iowa, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, Iowa. Memorial services were Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood with Rev. Paul Holmer officiating. Inurnment was at Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Marjory was born Feb. 1, 1917 in Northwood to Carl Julius Narum and Ida Matilda (Klove) Narum. She was raised in Worth County and attended school in Northwood. After graduating from high school she attended the University of Utah. She joined the Navy after Pearl Harbor and was stationed in Washington, D.C. serving in Naval Intelligence. After serving her country she returned to Northwood and married Milford Nelson. Two children was born to this union. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's business. She also worked as a secretary for a local insurance agency and as a parish secretary at First Lutheran. She was known for her talent in hardanger, in which, she also taught classes. Survivors include two sons, Bruce N. Nelson, Crowley, Texas, and Rev. Lee A. Nelson, Northwood; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, C. Janet Narum; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Milford in 1977, and one brother, John Carlyle Narum in 1933.
