OBITUARY: Victor E. Nybroten, 1912-2003, Worth County, Iowa [Northwood Anchor online - www.northwoodanchor.com - Posted May 21, 2003] Victor E. Nybroten Victor E. Nybroten, 90, Kensett, IA, died Sunday, May 11, 2003 at the Manly Nursing & Rehab Center in Manly. Memorial services were held Wednesday at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett, with Rev. Selmer G. Hernes officiating. There was a memorial service on Sunday, May 18 at the Adams Lutheran Church in Argyle, WI. Inurnment took place at Argyle, WI. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood, was in charge of arrangements. Victor Einar Nybroten was born Aug. 17, 1912, at his father’s farm near Argyle, WI, the tenth of the 11 children of Anton A. Nybroten and Dorthea O. Brattrud Nybroten. After graduating from Argyle Public High School and his father's death in 1927 he spent his early adult life taking care of his widowed mother and paying off the mortgage on the family farm. On July 26, 1951 he married Thora Haugerud and had three children, Arvid (born May 9, 1953), Ida (Arvid's twin who died shortly after her birth), and Allen (born Feb. 1, 1956). In March 1981 he retired from 52 years of dairy farming and with his wife moved to Kensett and bought a home. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Ida; five brothers; four sisters and seven nieces and nephews. Survivors include his wife, Thora of Kensett; two sons, Allen of Kensett, and Arvid of San Francisco, CA; one sister Magnhild Nybroten of Monroe, WI, and many nieces and nephews.
