OBITUARY: Guy A. Olson, 1927-2003, Worth Co., Iowa [Northwood Anchor online - Posted June 25, 2003] Guy A. Olson Guy A. Olson, 75, Northwood, formerly of Fort Dodge, died Friday, June 20, 2003 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were Monday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Rev. David Grindberg and Rev. Carroll Lang officiating. Burial was in North Lawn Cemetery. Guy was born Aug. 27, 1927 in Ellison Bay, WI. He graduated from Gilbraltar High School, Fish Creek, WI in 1945. After flunking out of the U of Wisconsin, Madison and Door Kewanee Normal, Algoma, WI he graduated with a BA in social studies from Luther College, Decorah in 1949. His MA was in guidance and counseling from Indiana State, Terre Haute, Indiana in 1962. He did additional graduate work at UNI and Drake, where he received his administrative endorsements, Stetsen-Deland, Florida and Indiana University. Teaching and coaching were his early career. Upon retiring he became an independent consultant continuing to do the staff development coordination. Survivors include his wife, Janice; two sons, Larry of Van Horn, IA, and Tony of Hawaii; three step-daughters, Shelley Robson and her husband Dan of Forest City, IA, Lisa Irving and her husband Matt of North Liberty, IA, Angenette Goetz and her husband Bill of Milwaukee, WI; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene of Milwaukee, WI; step-mother, Evelyn Olson of McHenry, IL; mother-in-law, Alice Olson of Northwood. He was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Linda (Stenzel) Olson and his first wife, Frances.
