OBITUARY: Maurice R. Reyerson, 1924-2003, Worth, Iowa [Northwood Anchor online - June 4, 2003] Maurice R. Reyerson Maurice R. Reyerson, 79 of Northwood, IA, died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, IA. Funeral services were Monday at Silver Lake Lutheran Church in rural Northwood with Rev. Thomas Hagen officiating. Burial was at Silver Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Maurice R. Reyerson was born May 13, 1924, the son of Roy and May (Brua) Reyerson near Albert Lea, Freeborn County, MN. He lived in Heartland Township for 12 years, then moved to Silver Lake Township. He was baptized and confirmed in Silver Lake Lutheran Church. He attended Heartland and Silver Lake country school and Northwood Community High School. On Oct. 9, 1943, he married Dorothy Landaas at First Lutheran parsonage in Albert Lea, MN. They lived on the Reyerson homestead raising hogs and livestock and farmed the land all their married life. This being a Century Farm of which Maurice was the fourth generation. He was a member of the Albert Lea Moose and Eagle's Lodge. He served on the Silver Lake Cemetery Board for 38 years. He and Dorothy were instrumental in organizing the Avenue of Flags at Silver Lake Cemetery, of this, he was very proud. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, woodworking and being with his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dorothy Reyerson; their children: Marge (Dave) Tenold, Donna (Neil) Haugen, Joan (Tom) Vorland and Jean Hrubetz, all of Northwood, IA; six grandchildren; one great-grandson, Xander Haugen; sister Hazel Shaw; a 108 year old aunt, Alma Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Oscar and Vange Landaas, Alfred and Mary Landaas, and Lillian Hoyne; along with many nieces and nephews and a special extended family, Kris and Steve Allison and their children, Brooke and Megan. Maurice was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, mother and father-in-law, Lars and Anna Landaas; uncle George Reyerson; brothers-in-law, Leo Dralla and Leonard Shaw; brother and sisters-in-law, Martha and Lloyd Klukow, Selmer and Myrtle Peterson, Lloyd Landaas and Albert Hoyne.
