OBITUARY: Evelyn Myrtle Rhoden, 1915-2003, Worth Co., Iowa [ Northwood Anchor online - posted Sep. 10, 2003 ] Evelyn Myrtle Rhoden Evelyn Myrtle Rhoden, 88, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at the Pacific Coast Manor Convalescent Home in Santa Cruz, CA. Graveside services were Tuesday, Sept. 9 at the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood with Rev. Richard Jensen of the United Methodist Church in Northwood officiating. Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood, was in charge of the local arrangements. She was born in l915 in Athboy, SD. She taught school in Iowa for 15 years, farmed in Missouri, and then in 1958 married the love of her life, Hugo Rhoden, who passed away in l990, a long-term resident of Soquel. Evelyn was a member of the Methodist Church, American Legion, Eastern Star, and Parkinson's Support Group. She and Hugo traveled, raised beautiful dahlias, and worked to build the Avenue of Flags. In later years Evelyn loved to play cribbage and visit with friends and caregivers. With their loving assistance she was able to continue living in the home Hugo built, where she enjoyed music and laughter, playing cribbage, celebrations, and visits with friends and family members.
