Herman Smith
Herman Smith, 95, Pine River, Minnesota, and formerly of Northwood, Iowa,
died Wednesday, Sept. 10 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
He was born April 19, 1908 in Montezuma, Iowa, to Benjamin and Mary Smith.
Herman was a graduate of the Kemper Military Academy in Missouri. He
served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the Mess Sgt. for
General Maxwell Taylor at the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for the
Black Hawk Hotel chain, Delwebb Corporation and was a realtor in Sun
City, Arizona for 25 years.
Herman is survived by his daughter, Susan Amacher of Lakeshore, and
one brother, Harlan Smith of Pequot Lakes.
His wife, Gladys and one sister, Aleta Dahl, preceded him in death.
