OBITUARY: Olger Elmer Tenold, 1926-2003, Worth Co., Iowa [Northwood Anchor online - posted May 28, 2003 ] Olger E. Tenold Olger E. Tenold, 77, of rural Northwood, died Thursday, May 22, 2003, at his home. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at Sion Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, with Rev. Tom Hagen officiating. Burial was in the Sion Lutheran Cemetery. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home of Northwood is in charge of arrangements. Family will received friends on Monday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home. According to his wishes his body will be cremated. Olger Elmer Tenold was born on Feb. 28, 1926, in Brookfield Township, rural Worth County. He was the son of Elmer and Anna (Kvale) Tenold. He was baptized and confirmed at Bristol Lutheran Church, rural Joice. He attended rural school, graduating from Kensett High School in 1944. He entered the United States Navy in 1944 where he served two years active duty and four years in the naval reserves. After graduating from the University of Iowa in 1949, he returned and was united in marriage to Gaylis Borchardt on June 26, 1949. They lived and farmed along Tenold Road for 54 years. He served as Democratic County Chairman for Worth County for several years,the Northwood School Board and Sion Lutheran Church Council. He received Master Pork Producer and Outstanding Young Farmer recognitions. He enjoyed raising livestock and enjoyed the people who were associated with it. Olger was a dedicated conservationist his whole life. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. Throughout his life, his family was his greatest joy, sharing the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Marvin and Reuben; sister Clarice; sister-in-law Opal Tenold. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gaylis Tenold of Northwood; two daughters, Kaaren Tenold of Anoka, Minn., Nancy Bein and husband John of Bondurant, Iowa; two sons, Russel Tenold and wife Renate of Northwood, John Tenold and wife Mary of rural Northwood; brother-in-law Lawrence Borchardt and wife Doris of Cleveland, Minn.; five grandchildren, Sarah and Mike Espinoza of Des Moines, Eric Bein of Bondurant, Iowa, Rebecca and Jennifer Tenold of rural Northwood and Gage Tenold of rural Northwood; many nieces and nephews, loving relatives and friends.
