OBITUARY: Baard N. Troe, 1870-1949, Worth County, Iowa Baard N. Troe B.N. Troe (79) farmer in Worth Co., died Saturday of a heart attack. (1949) He had been in failing health for some time, but had worked in his garden until the time of his death. Baard N. Troe was born January 30, 1870 to Mr. and Mrs. Nils N. Troe in Silver Lake Twp., on the farm now occupied by Gustav A. Sorbo. He was baptized at Silver Lake by the Rev. T.A. Torgerson and confirmed by the Rev. L. Tosdahl. In the same church, he married Christine Horvei on March 12, 1892. His sister, Ingrid, was married at the same time in a double ceremony by the late Rev. N.E. Boe. The two couples celebrated their golden wedding anniversary together in 1942. Mr. Oyer died a year ago. Mr. and Mrs. Troe first settled on the farm now owned by John Heske, one mile NW of Silver Lake, which was their home until they moved to Lake Mills five years ago. He is survived by his wife and eight children: Mrs. Knut (Laura) Nesby, Emmons; Mrs. Alma Brua and Mrs. Cora Groe, Lake Mills; Mrs. Edwin (Hilda) Hagen, Riceville, Mrs. Clarence (Eva) Sime, Northwood; Helmer, Burnell and Alvin,Twin Lakes; 30 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Helen Henderson, Lake Mills and a brother, N.T. Nelson, Albert Lea. The funeral was held at Salem Church, with Rev. Boe officiating and burial in the Silver Lake Cemetery.
