OBITUARY: Joyce Rosalyn (Volger) Kuhlmann, 1930-2003, Worth Co., Iowa [Northwood Anchor online - Posted July 2, 2003] Joyce Rosalyn Kuhlmann Joyce Rosalyn Kuhlmann, 72, of Northwood, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2003, at the First Lutheran Church, 309 North 9th Street, Northwood, with Rev. Allan J. Stoa officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008-1st Ave. South, Northwood. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service time on Thursday at the church. The family of Joyce Roselyn Kuhlmann has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in her memory. Joyce Roselyn Kuhlmann was born on Dec. 6, 1930, in Los Angles, CA, the daughter of Edward C. and Thekla (See) Volger. She attended and graduated from John Marshall High School in Hollywood, CA. After completing her schooling she worked for E. Brooks Randall, insurance company in Sunset Blvd, CA. She married Gaylord "LaVon" Kuhlmann on Sept. 21, 1957, in the Hollywood Lutheran Church in Hollywood, CA. In 1959, they moved to Northwood where she loved and raised her family. Joyce worked for a period of time as a secretary in Mason City. She enjoyed bowling and was a secretary and treasurer for her bowling league, going to family functions in Texas and California and enjoyed her birthday club in Northwood, but her great love and enjoyment was her family and many friends. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and her church circle in Northwood. Left to cherish her memory is her husband LaVon Kuhlmann of Northwood; three children and their families, daughter, Gail Kuhlmann and her children, Gerad, and Josh Kuhlmann and Cody Cox of Northwood, daughter, Linda Carlson of Northwood, and a son-in-law, Steve Carlson of Manly and their children, Amber, Laura, and Garrett Carlson all of Northwood, daughter, Kathy Rush and her husband Kurt and their children, Aaron and Jordan Rush of Mason City; mother-in-law, Hazel Kuhlmann of Northwood; a twin sister, Joanne McCrillis and her husband Dick of Rockwall, TX; a brother, Don Volger and his wife Donna of Glendale, CA; five sisters-in-law, Cherie Volger of Apple Valley, CA, Rosela Volger of Idaho, Marcile Perry and her husband Dean of New Ulm, MN, Beverly Davis and her husband Glen of Ft. Meyers, FL, Dodie Belanger and her husband Jerry of New Hope, MN, several nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gary Kuhlmann and three brothers, Robert, Edward and Henry Volger.
