OBITUARY: Berneice Louise (Ash) Branstad, 1918-2004, Worth Co., Iowa [Adapted from: Northwood Anchor online, Feb. 4, 2004] Berneice Louise Branstad Berneice Louise Branstad, 85, of Northwood and Kensett, formerly of Mason City, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City. Funeral services were Friday at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Burial was in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City. Berneice Louise Branstad was born on July 10, 1918, in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of John and Margaret Ash. Berneice worked for J.P. Deckers Meat Packing Plant in Mason City, and also worked for Shifts Nursing Home in Mason City. Berneice owned and operated Beehives Antiques in Kensett. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Iver Dean Branstad and his wife Edith of St. Ansgar, Iowa; and Harold Branstad of Wisconsin; a daughter, Virginia Servantez and her husband Mike of Mason City; many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; many brothers and sisters; a son-in-law, Roger Bushbaum of Manly, Iowa; as well as other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Iver Branstad, a son, August 'Barney' Branstad who died in February of 1992, a daughter, Charlotte Bushbaum who died May 7, 2001, and a very special friend, Arnold Thompson of 26 years who died on Aug. 18, 2003.
