OBITUARY: Rev. N.E. Boe, 1846-c1921, Worth Co., Iowa Rev. N.E. Boe Rev. N.E. Boe was born in Valestrand, S. Sondhorland, Norway March 24, 1846. He came to America in 1851 and attended school at Albion Academy, WI in 1861 to 1864. He was then a student at Augustina College, Paxton, IL from 1866 to 1869. He served as a volunteer in the Union army 1864-1865. His first pastorate was in Eureka, Kansas from 1871 to 1873 where he shared the sufferings and hardships of the pioneers. He held parishes at Calumet, MI; Leland, IL and Deronda, WI. His longest stay was at Silver Lake from 1889 to 1909. He was a member of the board of publications of the United Church, plus numerous others. He retired a few years ago and lived near Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota. He celebrated his 50th year ordination anniversary. He is survived by his wife and children, Pres. L.W. Boe of St. Olaf College; the Rev. A.J. Boe, Superior, Wisconsin; Mrs. Rev. O.O. Glesne, Decorah, Iowa; Mrs. Prof. A.M. Saetre, Moorhead, Minnesota, and Miss Sofia Boe at the family home. Copyright 2004, Elaine Bergan
