OBITUARY: Victoria "Vickie" Gail (Durost) HANSON, 1955-2004, Worth Co., Iowa [Based on obituary in Northwood Anchor online, posted 8-11-2004] Victoria "Vickie" Gail Hanson Victoria "Vickie" Gail Hanson, 49, of Northwood, Iowa, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Memorial service will be held Thursday Aug. 12, 2004 at the Grace Evangelical Free Church, 440 North Illinois, Mason City, with Reverend Scott Davis officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 P.M Wednesday (August 11, 2004) at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 1st Avenue South, Northwood, who is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, Hidden Acres, or Grace Evangelical Free Church, Mason City. Victoria "Vickie" Gail Hanson was born May 20, 1955 in Hartford, Connecticut the daughter of Richard and Sarah (Marstaller) Durost. She graduated from Windsor Locks High School in Connecticut. After high school she attended The Kings College in Briar Cliff Manor, New York, where she received her bachelors degree in psychology. Vickie was united in marriage to Greg Hanson on January 7, 1978, in Carbondale, Illinois; to this union three children were born. Vickie studied piano for 15 years and later taught piano lessons for 12 years. She worked at the Grace Evangelical Free Church as a musician, later taking the position of Worship Coordinator. She was an accompanist for the Northwood and Mason City Schools. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Free Church, Mason City. She is survived by her husband Greg Hanson, of Northwood; children, Sarah (Lawrence) Lee, of Bluff City, Tennessee; Jon (Elly) Hanson, of Stratford, and Samuel Hanson, of Northwood; parents, Richard and Sarah Durost, of Ocala, Florida; father-in-law, James A. Hanson, of Northwood; sister Rebecca (Bruce) Fish, of Bend, Oregon; brother, Major Richard (Andrea) Durost, of Puyallup, Washington; sister, Edith (William) Emerson, of Augusta, Maine; along with many nieces and nephews.
