OBITUARY: Steven Alex Heagel, 1953-2004, Worth County, Iowa [Based on an obituary in the Northwood Anchor online - Aug. 4, 2004] Steven Alex Heagel Steven Alex Heagel, 51, of Kensett, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at his home. A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 31, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett, with Reverend Allan Stoa officiating. Bride Colonial Chapel of Manly, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements. Steven Alex Heagel was born July 28, 1953, in Mason City, a son of Alex and Evelyn (Schutz) Heagel. He attended and graduated Northwood-Kensett High school. After high school he helped farm around the Kensett area. He also worked at the Bolan Store and with Armor in Mason City. He married Melba Spooner on December 28, 1974 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly. To this union four children were born. Recently he was employed through Staff Management with Kraft in Mason City. Steve's greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by parents, Alex and Evelyn Heagel, of Kensett, four children: Kathy and her husband Aaron Pals, of Manly, Scott and his wife Julie Heagel, of Manly, Karen Heagel, of Mason City, Kourtney Heagel, of Manly; sisters: Janet and her husband Larry Johnson, of Owatonna, Minnesota, Beverly Loberg, of Northwood, Mary and her husband Steve Wise, of Manly, Carol and her husband Dale Hennigar, of Manly, grandchildren, Austin and Carter Pals, of Manly, Kaylee and Garrett Heagel, of Manly, Nathaniel Baker and Alycia Heagel, of Mason City, along with many nieces and nephews.
