OBITUARY: Dr. Leo Albert August Kirchgatter, 1896-1947, Worth County, Iowa Dr. Leo Kirchgatter Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon [Nov 14, 1947] at 2:00 o'clock at the Bride Funeral Home in Manly, for Dr. Leo Albert August Kirchgatter, who died under mysterious circumstances on or about November 1, 1947, in a cornfield southwest of Grafton, Iowa. The funeral will be conducted by the Rev S. M. Becker of Grafton. Burial will be in the Grafton Cemetery and the American Legion post of Grafton will conduct military rites. Leo was the son of August Fred Albert Kirchgatter and Ida Berthe Lisse Kirchgatter. He was born December 13, 1896 in rural Corwith, Hancock county, Iowa. He is survived by his father, August Kirchgatter, of Nora Springs and three brothers, Ole and Frank of Carpenter, and William of Clear Lake. Leo was preceded in death by his mother, who died in 1944. Dr. Kirchgatter had been practicing veterinarian at Grafton of a number of years. He married Wilma Irma Macken on October 17, 1923, but he and his wife had separated. There are no children.
