OBITUARY: Carol (Mehmen) Rupe, 1927-2004, Worth Co., Iowa

Carol Rupe, age 77, of Northwood, Iowa, died Saturday, July 31, 2004
at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday at the Conner Colonial Chapel,
Northwood, with Rev. Allan J. Stoa officiating.  Inurnment will be in
Mt. Valley Bethel Cemetery, Forest City, at a later date.

Carol Rupe was born March 4, 1927, in Clarksville, Iowa, the daughter
of James "Jake" and Jenny (Wubbenna) Mehmen.

She was united into marriage to Russell Rupe on July 31, 1944, and
passed away on their 60th wedding anniversary.  With this union six
children were born.  Carol and Russell owned and operated Rupe's Resort
in Waterville, Minnesota prior to their retirement.

Carol made her home at the Northwood Lutheran Retirement Home for the
last three years.

She is survived by her children: Richard and his wife Laurel, of Superior,
Wisconsin; Dorothy and her husband Tom Hagen of Northwood; Betty
Boettcher of Northwood; Robert and his wife Donna Rupe of Hastings,
Minnesota; Edna and her husband Jerry Lestrud, of Northwood; Donald and
his wife Linda Rupe, of Waterville, Minnesota; two step-sons: Russell
Rupe, of Texas, and Carl Rupe, of Iowa; four sisters, 25 grandchildren,
22 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by parents, husband Russell Rupe in 1998,
two brothers, one sister, one granddaughter, and one great-grandson.

Conner Colonial Chape is was charge of arrangements.
