OBITUARY: Fred Powell Oleson, 1940-2004, Worth County, Iowa [Adapted from: Northwood Anchor online - Posted 2-25-2004] Fred Powell Oleson Fred Powell Oleson, 64, of Kensett, Iowa, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services were on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at the First Shell Rock Lutheran Church in Northwood, Iowa, with Rev. Karl Hermanson officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood. Fred Powell Oleson was born on Jan. 16, 1940, in Forest City, Iowa, the son of Roger and Blanche (Escherich) Oleson. He graduated from Kensett High School in 1957. He was inducted into the U.S. Air Force on March 13, 1958, and served with the 3610th Air Base Group and was honorably discharged on April 12, 1960. He married Lois Harvey on July 10, 1965, at the First Shell Rock Lutheran Church in Northwood. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Lois Oleson of Kensett; three sons, Fred Paul Oleson and his special friend Misty of Kensett, Chad Oleson and his wife Mona of Mason City, and Corey Oleson and his wife Daniela of Kensett; nine grandchildren, Daniel, Alex, Sean, Blane, Selena, William, Alayna, Zachary, and Paige; five brothers, Sherman Oleson and his wife Anita of Forest City, Raymond Oleson and his special friend Maxine of Silver Lake, Roger Oleson and his wife Helen of Anchorage, Alaska, Berl Oleson and his wife Ann of Dexter, Minnesota, Emory Oleson and his wife Gloria of Port Charlotte, Florida; three sisters, Evelyn Urbatch and her husband Richard of Omaha, Nebraska, Ruby Loken of Mason City, and Charlotte Stohr and her husband Larry of Thompson; he is also survived by brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Blanche, brothers, Valere (Frank) Oleson and his wife Darlene, Ronald and Allen Oleson, and a nephew Raymond (Babe) Oleson. Copyright 2004 K. L.
