OBITUARY: Ronald Leo Olson, 1949-2003, Worth County, Iowa

                         Ronald Leo Olson

Ronald Leo Olson, 54, of Northwood, Iowa, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003,
at his home. Funeral services were Saturday at the United Methodist 
Church, Northwood, with Rev. Richard Jensen officiating. Burial was
in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood. Conner Colonial Chapel, 
Northwood, was in charge of arrangements.

Ronald Leo Olson, the son of Guy Olson of Northwood, Iowa, and Lois
(Reed) Olson of Collins, Iowa, was born on May 30, 1949, in Huntington,
Indiana. He attended Northwood-Kensett schools, where he graduated in 
1967. He was a member of Boy Scouts, DeMolay and the United Methodist
Church in Northwood. He attended NIACC in Mason City, and Mankato
State College. Ron, who lived and worked in Northwood most of his
life except for several years spent working in the mines in Colorado,
had been an award winning reporter and photographer for the Northwood
Anchor since 1987, and was a sports reporter for the Mason City Globe
Gazette from 1984 to 1987.

His involvement in the community ranged from membership in a local 
bowling league to assisting in efforts to revitalize downtown Northwood.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Guy Olson of Northwood,
and Lois Olson of Collins; three sisters and their families, Susanne,
Jim and Dana White of Los Angeles, California, Janet, Jon, Tyler and
Olivia Neuschwanger of Collins, Iowa, and Jill, Frank and Evan Hilton
of Des Moines; many aunts and uncles including Ruth Reed of Huntington,
Indiana, Ivan and Elaine Olson of Northwood, Opal Patterson of
Greenfield, Iowa, Vivian and Dwight Irwin of Muscatine, Iowa, Bud 
Ambler of Huntington, Indiana, Merle and Rosalie Russell of Casa
Grande, Arizona, and Dale and Nancy Olson of Dupree, Wisconsin; and
by many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather and grandmother,
Clarence and Florence Olson of Northwood, and Wallace and Effie
Reed of Huntington, Indiana.
